Cecil D. Buchanan Museum of Military History
The Cecil D. Buchannan Military History Museum was originally founded by Cecil at American Legion
Post 3, Greenville and was subsequently moved to American Legion Post 214, Taylors, SC in 2017. The
Museum houses collections of Military artifacts from the American Revolutionary War through the Gulf
Wars. The greatest contributors of military artifacts are Cecil D. Buchannan and Peter Butchart. The
mission of the Museum is “to Honor, Preserve and teach.”
In addition to welcoming visitors to the Museum, we also have programs that we will provide to
schools or other interested groups. Some of our members will speak about their service and answer student’s questions. Another topic we teach is flag etiquette. There are no fees but donations are always appreciated.
As 2018 is the 100th Anniversary of the end of WW1, the Museum is presenting a series of Military
lectures on topics about WW1. Two lectures have been made so far and we have two more scheduled
for 2018. The public is invited to attend.
We welcome everyone to come and visit the Museum, where one of our Veteran members will escort
you through and explain the exhibits and answer questions. There is no charge, but donations are
